CARROLL COUNTY ELECTION INFORMATION
The online Mail-in Absentee Request Portal opened on April 4th, 2026 and will close on May 5th, 2026 at 11:59 pm. You can apply online at govoteky.gov or by contacting our office at 502-732-7005 during the dates the Absentee Portal is open.
If you choose not to mail in your ballot, Drop Boxes for the Mail-In ballots are located inside each entrance of the Courthouse at 440 Main Street, Carrollton, KY 41008. Ballots must be received by no later than 6:00pm on Election Day, May 19th, 2026.
EXCUSED IN-PERSON ABSENTEE VOTING will be Wednesday, May 6th, 2026 – Wednesday, May 13th, 2026. Qualified voters may come to the Clerk’s Office to cast an absentee ballot during normal business days & hours (Monday -Friday, 8:30am -4:30pm) for 6 days. Must have an excuse for not being able to vote during 3-Day Early Voting or Election Day to qualify for Excused Voting.
NO EXCUSE IN-PERSON EARLY VOTING will be Thursday, May 14th, 2026 – Saturday, May 16th, 2026. This is for any qualified voter who would like to Early Vote. This will be conducted on the second floor of the courthouse at 440 Main Street, Carrollton, KY 41008 from 8:00am-4:00pm.
ELECTION DAY is Tuesday May 19th, 2026, 6:00am-6:00pm. We will have three Vote Centers for the General Election. VOTERS CAN VOTE AT ANY OF THREE locations which include:

CARROLL COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY, 136 Court Street, Carrollton, KY 41008
SANDERS FIRE DEPARTMENT, 38 Main Street, Sanders KY 41083
PRE-ELECTION ACTIVITIES
November 5, 2025 – Earliest date for the affixing of signatures on candidate filing forms for an office on the ballot in 2026.
December 31, 2025 – Last day to change political party affiliation and be eligible to vote in the political party’s upcoming primary election.
January 9, 2026, at 4 PM – Candidate filing deadline: last day to file nomination papers for candidates who must run in the primary.
April 20, 2026, at 4 PM – Last day to register to vote for the primary.
June 2, 2026, at 4 PM – Non-partisan candidate filing deadline.
October 5, 2026, at 4 PM – Last day to register or make changes for the General Election.
PRIMARY ELECTION
April 4, 2026, to May 5th, 2026, at 11:59 PM – Online mail-in absentee portal open for PRIMARY ELECTION mail-in ballot requests.
April 20, 2026, at 4 PM – Last day to register to vote for the primary.
May 6th to 8th and 11th to 13th, 2026 – Excused, in-person absentee voting.
May 14th to 16th, 2026 – ln person, no-excuse early voting.
May 19, 2026, from 6 AM to 6 PM – PRIMARY ELECTION DAY.
GENERAL ELECTION
September 19, 2026, to 0ctober 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM – Online mail-in absentee portal open for mail-in ballot requests.
October 5, 2026, at 4 PM – Last day to register or make changes for the General Election .
October 21st to 23rd and 26th to 28th, 2026 – Excused, in-person absentee voting.
October 29th to 31st, 2026 – In person, no-excuse early voting.
